According to sources, T20 captain Salman Ali Agha’s stint as captain has come to an end, while he has also been dropped from the squad.

According to sources, Sahibzada Farhan and Shadab Khan are in the race for the new T20 captaincy. After Haris Rauf, a decision has also been taken to drop Shaheen Afridi from the T20 squad.
Shaheen Afridi has taken 136 wickets for Pakistan, the most by any player, while Haris Rauf has 133 wickets to his name. Razaullah, the hero of the Edgbaston Test, is also a strong candidate for inclusion in the T20 and ODI squads.
According to sources, Shaheen Afridi will continue to captain the ODI team, while Test captain Babar Azam will be part of the T20 and ODI squads.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play three T20 matches in Rawalpindi from October 9 to 13.
It is worth mentioning that a three-nation ODI tournament will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore from October 18 to 31. Hosts Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka will participate in the tri-nation ODI tournament.
2027 World Cup: Pakistan, India likely to be placed in same group
The traditional rivals Pakistan and India are likely to be placed in the same group once again in the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
According to media reports, the two teams are expected to be placed in the same group despite Pakistan’s unimpressive record against India.
The report said commercial partners have also made the Pakistan-India match mandatory at the group stage.
It is worth noting that broadcasters still consider Pakistan-India matches important in ICC events.
The schedule for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup will be unveiled tomorrow in Cape Town at 9pm Pakistan Standard Time.
The 14-team ICC Cricket World Cup will be played in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe from October 2 to November 21 next year.
The one-year countdown to the ICC World Cup will begin on October 1.
