Earthquake tremors were felt in Swat and nearby areas on Wednesday afternoon
According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake measured 4.2 magnitude on the Richter scale. The tremors were felt at around 1:35 pm local time
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 172 kilometres underground, the centre reported.
The epicentre of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range, according to the Seismological Centre.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage following the tremor.
The Hindu Kush region is one of the major earthquake zones affecting Pakistan. Because earthquakes in the region can occur at considerable depth, tremors may be felt across wide areas, including Islamabad and parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pakistan’s seismic records show repeated earthquake activity around the Hindu Kush and neighbouring regions throughout 2026.
