English football club Manchester City have signed young Moroccan midfielder Ayoub Bouaddi from French club Lille on a five-year contract, making him the most expensive teenage player in Premier League history.
According to French club Lille, the transfer fee for Ayoub Bouaddi is €100 million (approximately £85.6 million), which is the highest amount ever paid for a teenage player in the Premier League.
Ayoub Bouaddi has broken the record of Leny Yoro, who moved from Lille to Manchester United in 2024 for a reported £58.9 million.
The 18-year-old Bouaddi was among the standout players for Morocco at the recent World Cup. Morocco reached the quarter-finals, where they suffered defeat at the hands of France.
The young player Bouaddi earned a place in Lille’s first team at just 16 years of age and made 96 appearances for the club.
Manchester City’s pursuit for Bouaddi shows the club’s continued focus on securing the most expensive young talent for the future. His skill to play in midfield and experience at senior level despite his young age have made him one of the most sought-after option in European football.
