ATC grants Aleema Khan relief in protest case

The hearing involved Aleema Khan and 11 other accused linked to the protest on November 26. During the proceedings, Aleema Khan requested permission to leave, stating that their lawyers were engaged in Supreme Court matters. Prosecutor Zaheer Shah responded that under Section 351 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the accused remained in judicial custody.

When Aleema Khan attempted to leave, female police officers took her back into custody and escorted her inside the court. The court instructed that she should not leave the judicial premises. Aleema Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Malik, later arrived at the court.

Subsequently, the court granted Aleema Khan permission to leave and accepted two surety bonds of Rs 1 million each submitted on her behalf. Additionally, eight witnesses were fined Rs 10,000 each for using delaying tactics in the case.

The court adjourned the hearing until December 1, following a request from the defense lawyers. The submitted surety bonds were in compliance with the court’s earlier bail orders.

It is worth noting that the court had previously issued multiple arrest warrants against Aleema Khan in this case.
