The Punjab government has launched a major competition under the “Sona Ugalta Punjab” (Gold Yielding Punjab) initiative to boost wheat production across the province.
The competition aims to help farmers prosper and significantly increase wheat yields. Winners will receive cash prizes worth millions of rupees and brand-new tractors.
The government has set January 31 as the last date for application submissions.
Eligibility Criteria
Farmers must meet the following conditions to participate:
- The applicant, male or female, must own at least five acres of agricultural land.
- Land documents must be attested by the relevant Tehsil Committee.
- Wheat must be continuously cultivated on either:
- 15 acres of irrigated land, or
- 12 acres of rain-fed land.
- Only approved and attested wheat seeds may be used.
Prize Details
Provincial Level Prizes:
- First Prize: 85 HP Tractor
- Second Prize: 75 HP Tractor
- Third Prize: 60 HP Tractor
District Level Prizes:
- First Prize: Rs 1,000,000
- Second Prize: Rs 800,000
- Third Prize: Rs 500,000
Terms and Conditions
Farmers can download application forms from the Punjab Agriculture Department’s website or obtain them from local offices.
They must submit completed forms to the offices of the respective Directors of Agriculture (Extension).
The following individuals are not eligible to participate:
- MNAs, MPAs, Senators, and their family members
- Government employees of Grade 17 and above, including those from the Finance Department and all employees of the Agriculture Department Punjab
