Islamabad: Due to protest activity near diplomatic facilities in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, all U.S. visa appointments and American Citizen Services scheduled for March 2 have been canceled. The mission said further information regarding rescheduling and future appointments will be communicated via official channels.
The U.S. Mission to Pakistan has issued safety measure instructios following reports of ongoing demonstrations at the U.S. Consulate General Lahore and protests outside the U.S. Consulate General Karachi.
In an official statement, the mission said U.S. government personnel in Pakistan have been directed to restrict their movements until further notice as a precautionary measure amid the evolving security situation.
The advisory urges U.S. citizens currently in Pakistan to remain vigilant, avoid large public gatherings, and closely monitor local media for updates. Citizens have also been advised to review their personal security plans, keep a low profile, carry proper identification, and cooperate with local authorities if approached.
