Proposal to Introduce New Currency Note Series Under Consideration by Federal Cabinet: State Bank

The State Bank has termed reports circulating on social media about the discontinuation of the Rs10 currency note as baseless and said that reports regarding the last date for exchanging the Rs10 note are also incorrect.

According to the State Bank, a proposal to introduce a new series of currency notes is under consideration by the Federal Cabinet. No final decision has yet been made regarding the new currency note series. If any decision is made to replace or discontinue any currency note, the public will be officially informed.

The public will also be given sufficient time to exchange any notes that are discontinued. The State Bank urged the public to obtain information regarding currency notes only through its official sources.

Earlier today, the State Bank of Pakistan said that its total liquid foreign exchange reserves reached $26.791 billion as of September 11, 2026.

The SBP’s reserves stood at $21.389 billion, while commercial banks held $5.402 billion. The latest figures reflect a strong weekly increase in the country’s foreign exchange holdings.
