Web desk: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a warning to mobile phone users, urging them to stay alert against fraud and scams.
In a statement, PTA advised users to safeguard their online identity, personal, and financial information, and to remain cautious of fake phone calls, suspicious links, and fraudulent messages.
A PTA spokesperson said that online fraudsters often lure people with offers of prize money and then ask them to click on a link or share sensitive details such as bank account information, which can lead to financial scams.
The warning further instructed citizens to report any suspicious phone calls, SMS, or links received from unknown numbers via the PTA CMS mobile app.
In case of cybercrime, users have been advised to contact the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency helpline at 1799.
For financial or mobile banking fraud, citizens should report to the State Bank of Pakistan helpline at 021-111-727-273.
