Web desk: India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan’s tenure has been extended till May 30, 2026 or until further orders. The Indian Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his continuation as Secretary, said the Department of Military Affairs.
According to Indian media reports, he will also continue to serve as Secretary to the Government of India, said the Department of Military Affairs.
General Anil Chauhan was appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) on September 28, 2022.
He was commissioned into the Indian Army in 1981.
He later led the armed forces during ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan, following India’s allegations that Pakistan was behind the Pahalgam false flag in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.
Operation Sindoor was a failed attempt to impose war on Pakistan. Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was a befitting response to this false flag, which gave us the iconic 6-0.
The Indian Army has since continued to pursue its war-mongering agenda, repeating the empty threats even after the humiliating failure in its Operation Sindoor.
Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, in an interview with Indian media, once again levelled false accusations against Pakistan over the Pahalgam false flag.
Repeating old claims, he alleged that Pakistan’s “thinking since 1965 has not changed” and accused Pakistan of attempting to divide India, assertions analysts view as a desperate attempt to cover up failures on the ground.
Critics view this as another hollow phrase aimed more at domestic audiences than at addressing realities on the ground.
