Web Desk: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has given a major relief to prepaid SIM users by setting the minimum validity of mobile balance at 180 days.

According to a private TV channel,” the PTA’s 180-day validity period for prepaid mobile balance will begin from October 1.

According to the PTA, the minimum validity period for recharge and balance of all mobile operators has been set at 180 days.

According to the notification, after the validity of the balance expires, the expired balance will automatically be restored upon recharge. If the SIM remains usable, the expired balance will be returned to the user upon recharge.

The PTA has also expressed its commitment to protecting consumer rights and promoting a fair business environment.

It should be noted that previously, prepaid users were given only 30 days by mobile companies. That is, if a card or package was recharged on the 20th, it would expire on the 19th of the following month. However, now it will have a validity of 180 days, meaning that if the user recharges the SIM during this period, the previous balance and other things will be restored.

The PTA has also warned operators against adopting unfair commercial practices while implementing the decision.

The move comes in response to repeated consumer complaints over the permanent loss of prepaid balances once validity periods expired.
