Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the country today.

According to local media reports, rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Murree, along with parts of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The weather department also predicted rain at isolated places in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sargodha.

Rain is also likely in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Mansehra, Swabi, Charsadda and Bajaur.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms with rain have been forecast for Dir, Chitral, Malakand and Swat, while strong winds and rain are expected in Abbottabad, Haripur and other upper areas.

The Met Office further said rain is also expected at different locations in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak and Dera Ismail Khan.

The NDMA has advised citizens to take precautionary measures during rain and thunderstorms, particularly in upper and hilly areas where strong winds may disrupt daily activities.

Besides, tourists travelling to northern regions have also been advised to stay updated about weather conditions before starting their journeys.

The current spell of rain is likely to bring relief from the ongoing heat in several parts of the country. However, urban flooding may occur in low-lying areas of major cities during heavy downpours, while authorities have been directed to remain alert in vulnerable regions.
