Speaking to the media, Director of the Meteorological Department Irfan Virk said that the weather in Lahore will remain pleasant for the next two days, but the heat will return afterward. He added that rain is also expected in upper and northeastern Punjab during the next 24 to 48 hours.

Regarding Karachi, he said that the intense heat seen at the beginning of May is currently not present, although temperatures will remain high, while the weather is expected to stay better for the next two days.

Regarding Eid, the Meteorological Department director said that after the current spell of rain subsides, temperatures will gradually rise, and another spell of rain may arrive before Eid. However, no final prediction can yet be made in this regard.

According to the current forecast, temperatures will increase after the rain system passes, and the intensity of the heat is expected to rise during the Eid days.

Explaining the El Niño phenomenon, the Met director said that if El Niño becomes active in the Pacific Ocean, rainfall in South Asian countries tends to decrease during the monsoon season.
