Pakistan Women’s team defeated Hong Kong by 72 runs to qualify for the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup.
Chasing Pakistan’s target of 144 runs, the entire Hong Kong team was bowled out for 71 runs.
For Pakistan, Nashra Sandhu bowled brilliantly and dismissed six players, while Fatima Sana, Sadia Iqbal and Ayesha Zafar took one wicket each.
Earlier, Pakistan Women’s team scored 143 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted overs and set Hong Kong a target of 144 runs.
Shawal Zulfiqar was Pakistan’s leading batter with 47 runs, while Ayesha Zafar scored 26, Fatima Sana 24 and Tuba Hassan 14 runs.
For Hong Kong, Julianne Ko took four wickets.
Cricketer Sana Fatima sanctioned by ICC
Pakistan women’s captain Fatima Sana has been fined 10% of her match fee for a conduct violation during her side’s Women’s Asia Cup match against India in Dubai on Saturday, the International Cricket Council said.
The sanction follows an incident involving India batter Shafali Verma during Pakistan’s seven-wicket defeat. The ICC determined that Fatima had breached Article 2.5 of its Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which covers conduct that could demean a dismissed batter or provoke an aggressive response.
In addition to the financial penalty, Fatima received one demerit point. It was her second disciplinary offence within a 24-month period, taking her total to two points during that period.
The incident occurred after Fatima dismissed Verma early in India’s chase.
Verma had attacked Pakistan’s bowlers at the start of the innings but was dismissed with the sixth delivery she faced, sending a catch back towards Fatima. After completing the catch, the Pakistan captain made a gesture towards the pavilion.
The ICC subsequently deemed the gesture to have breached its conduct regulations.
Fatima accepted the charge and the proposed punishment from Supriya Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As a result, the matter did not require a formal disciplinary hearing.
The latest penalty follows another disciplinary sanction against Fatima.
She received her first demerit point during Pakistan’s T20 International against Ireland in Dublin on Aug. 6, 2025. The new point therefore brings her total to two within the ICC’s 24-month monitoring period.
Under the ICC’s rules, a Level 1 offence can result in an official reprimand, a fine of up to 50% of a player’s match fee and one or two demerit points.
Despite the heavy defeat against India, Pakistan remain in contention for a place in the tournament’s knockout stage.
