Preparations have been completed to introduce an e-Immigration system for passengers traveling abroad, under which they will receive a QR code before reaching the airport. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is set to introduce a new e-Immigration mobile app.
The primary objective of the initiative is to fully digitize the immigration process at airports across the country and make passengers’ travel process easier and faster.
Passengers will be able to use the app to verify their travel documents and other necessary travel requirements before reaching the airport. The FIA will verify the information provided by passengers online. Those whose documents are complete and valid will be issued a QR code through the app.
Upon arrival at the airport, passengers’ data will be immediately retrieved through the QR code at immigration counters, significantly reducing immigration processing time.
Passengers whose documents contain any ambiguity or require further clarification will also be notified in advance through the app, allowing them to resolve their issues beforehand.
The FIA will also conduct risk profiling during the immigration process using the data received from passengers.
According to officials, development of the e-Immigration mobile application has entered its final stages. The digital initiative is expected to help eliminate long queues and delays at immigration counters at airports.
