Web desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in 2027.

He emphasised the importance of beginning preparations early to ensure the event is successful.

Speaking on development and environmental projects, the prime minister highlighted efforts to make Islamabad more modern and attractive.

He said that work is ongoing to beautify Constitution Avenue and that electric vehicles (EVs) have been introduced to support environmental protection.

The premier also spoke about improvements in public travel facilities. Noting that the federal government is committed to making movement easier for residents.

Among ongoing infrastructure projects, he mentioned the T-Chowk Flyover. Which will be a significant milestone for people in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby areas.

“This one-kilometre flyover will ease access to the Expressway and surrounding localities,” he added.

Shehbaz Sharif highlights Pakistan’s sacrifices in fight against extremism

Earlier, on September 1, addressing the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism in all its forms. Including what he called “state terrorism.”

He pointed to irrefutable evidence of foreign involvement in the recent Jaffar Express train hostage incident.

The prime minister underlined Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against extremism. He noted that the country has lost over 90,000 lives and suffered economic losses exceeding $152 billion.

“Those who have long used terrorism for advancing their political interest must know that the world no longer buys this narrative,” he said. He added that foreign elements were behind recent terror incidents in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
