Faiz Hameed was hiding May 9 perpetrators in his farm house, reveals Col Inam

Prime Minister Imran Khan

Web Desk: Retired Colonel Inam-ur-Raheem shed light on the intricate relationships between key figures in Pakistan’s political and military landscape in a tv talkshow Faisla Aap Ka, focusing on the connections between former Prime Minister Imran Khan, former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed and former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar.

Legal Provisions for Civilians Influencing the Military

Colonel Raheem pointed out that under Section 31 of the Army Act, civilians found attempting to incite dissatisfaction or rebellion within the armed forces could face legal action. He emphasized that this provision is applicable even if a civilian influences military personnel or undermines their authority.

Faiz Hameed’s Attempt to Reach Imran Khan

Colonel Raheem shared that during Imran Khan’s imprisonment, Faiz Hameed, the former head of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, made efforts to make contact with the former premier. According to records, Hameed attempted to connect with various jail officials in a bid to access Khan. This raised concerns regarding Hameed’s intent and influence within the state’s military apparatus.

Military’s Historic Action Against a Key State Figure

Describing the military’s decision to trial Faiz Hameed as “significant,” Colonel Raheem stated that it marked an unprecedented event in Pakistan’s history. He noted that it was the first time a senior intelligence official, a key figure in the state, was subjected to military prosecution. The move was seen as part of the broader effort led by Army Chief CDF Asim Munir to restore order within the institution, a step that needed to be taken for the stability of the country.

Ties Between Faiz Hameed and Saqib Nisar

A central part of Colonel Raheem’s commentary involved Faiz Hameed’s reported connections with former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar. Raheem claimed that Hameed enjoyed close ties with Nisar during the latter’s tenure. This alliance played a role in Hameed’s unchallenged influence in political and military affairs.

Gifts to Saqib Nisar from Faiz Hameed

One of the most significant revelations involved claims made by Fakhar Durrani, a journalist, who reported that two luxury cars seized from the residence of the Top City housing scheme owner were given to Justice Saqib Nisar by Faiz Hameed. Durrani further reported that one of the cars was used by Nisar personally, while the other was reportedly given to his son.

Saqib Nisar’s Silence on Allegations

Despite these claims, Raheem noted that when Durrani reached out to Justice Nisar to refute the allegations, the former judge did not issue any denial. Raheem also shared information from a senior official in the Rangers, who confirmed that during the investigation into the Top City case, one of the seized cars was retrieved directly from Nisar’s son.

This commentary provides a deeper insight into the complexities of power and influence within Pakistan’s military, judiciary and political spheres. The allegations surrounding Faiz Hameed, Saqib Nisar and their involvement in key political events raise questions about the role of influential figures in shaping national policy and the legal system. As investigations continue, these revelations remain a critical point of discussion in Pakistan’s ongoing political discourse.
