LAHORE: More time has been granted to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) by a judicial magistrate on Tuesday. This time is granted for their reply to an application by YouTuber Ducky Bhai also known as Saad ur Rehman seeking the return of his electronic devices and ATM cards.
The application of the YouTuber was heard by Magistrate Naeem Wattoo, who has been released on bail for promoting gambling apps on social media.
A NCCIA prosecutor, during the hearing informed the magistrate that all relevant record must be obtained from the initial investigating officer, however the officer of the case was currently in jail. Hence, the prosecutor asked for more time to sought a reply.
Keeping in view of the prosecutor’s request, the NCCIA was granted an additional three days by the magistrate to submit the reply by Dec12.
The content of the application states that the electronic devices and mobile phones of Ducky Bhai are in custody of NCCIA and should be returned.
Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) anti-corruption wing had arrested at least six officials of the NCCIA on charges of alleged misuse of extortion and authority from the YouTuber while in custody.
The magistrate was told by FIA that more than RS25 million were recovered from the officials including deputy director (acting in-charge) Muhammad Zawar Ahmad, additional director Sarfraz Chaudhry, sub-inspectors Ali Raza and Yasir Ramzan and, assistant directors Shoaib Riaz and Mujtaba Zafar. The officials are on judicial remand and have resigned from their posts.
