Web Desk: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the Itihadia Presidential Palace in Cairo, where the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Egypt.
During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed a wide range of issues concerning regional peace, security and economic cooperation, underscoring the importance of sustained dialogue and strategic coordination between the two nations.
The Army Chief praised Egypt’s leadership for its constructive role in regional peace and stability, while President el-Sisi commended Pakistan’s positive and proactive engagement in global and Islamic world affairs.
“Both leaders emphasized the need to enhance coordination on shared strategic interests and to further develop people-to-people connections,” an official ISPR statement said.
The discussions also highlighted the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and Egypt, recognizing their shared historical ties and a mutual desire to expand collaboration across socio-economic, technological and security sectors.
The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with both sides expressing confidence that a strengthened economic and security partnership would contribute to peace and stability not only in Pakistan and Egypt but also across the broader Middle East and South Asian regions.
Earlier the Army Chief met with Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University, one of the leading centers of Islamic scholarship. The two discussed the pressing challenges facing the Muslim Ummah. Sheikh al-Tayeb expressed concerns over growing extremist ideologies, while Field Marshal Munir underscored the urgent need to eliminate extremist views and distorted interpretations of Islam.
