Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi pledged full cooperation with the federal government on security matters, saying the province would support all efforts aimed at restoring peace. He stressed that there would be no compromise on law and order under any circumstance.
Afridi said it was his democratic right to criticize federal policies, adding that some approaches required revision. He urged the government and parliament to work together to formulate a comprehensive and updated National Action Plan to address the evolving security threats.
CM invites federal audit, demands release of provincial dues
The chief minister invited the federal government to conduct a full audit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. At the same time, he insisted that federal authorities release the province’s outstanding dues. Furthermore, he emphasized that accountability must apply across the board and added that if any member of his own family is ever found involved in corruption, the government should punish them without exception.
Condemnation of terror attacks and support for security forces
Afridi condemned the recent attacks in Wana and Islamabad, calling the perpetrators terrorists who targeted Pakistan’s security personnel. He said the provincial administration had fully supported the inspector general during the Wana operation and would continue to assist law-enforcement agencies.
He emphasized that eliminating terrorism was the only option available to the country and that no alternative existed if Pakistan intended to safeguard its people.
Afridi denies skipping national security meetings
Responding to reports about his absence from security briefings, Afridi said he had never refused to attend any National Security Committee meeting. Moreover, he affirmed that he will attend every forum related to national security.
