Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) clarified that circulating messages and tweets claiming deductions of student marks and compulsory attendance for a high-profile delegation visit are false and misleading. The university emphasized that no directive regarding mark deductions has been issued.

The delegation visited DUHS’s Ojha Campus on 20 November 2025, and the university called the event successful. DUHS reassured students that they can ask questions freely at future events and emphasized that it will uphold transparency and academic freedom.

University warns against spreading false information

The university stated that anyone found creating or disseminating such misinformation may face disciplinary action under DUHS rules and applicable law. Furthermore, violations could invoke provisions under the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Ordinance, along with related regulations.

Original instructions regarding visit attendance

Earlier instructions circulated internally indicated that students should report at 8:30 a.m. on the rescheduled date, with clean lab coats and ID cards. These messages also incorrectly stated that absence would result in a five-mark deduction from internal evaluations. DUHS confirmed that these claims do not reflect official policy.

University reinforces commitment to students

In response, DUHS reaffirmed its commitment to students’ academic rights and emphasized that attendance policies will remain fair and transparent. The administration also urged students and staff to verify official communications before sharing information on social media.
