Jamal Shah and Faryal Gohar were married in the early 1980s, but their marriage lasted only five years.

Actress Faryal Gohar and actor and painter Jamal Shah were considered one of the most beautiful and famous couples of their time, but unfortunately, their marriage did not last long.

Jamal Shah and Faryal Gohar had remained silent about their marriage and subsequent divorce, so there has been limited information available about the reason and year of their separation.

It is, however, widely reported that the couple married in the early 1980s, when Jamal Shah was living in Britain for his education and the actress was staying with him.

It is also said that the couple divorced in either 1989 or 1992. Jamal Shah married for a second time in 2005 and has two daughters and a son.

Similarly, Faryal Gohar married Pakistani doctor Irfan Jamil Rehman, who was based in California, in 2002. Unfortunately, her husband died of cancer in 2011.

Recently, Faryal appeared on a morning show on a television channel and levelled serious allegations of violence and causing her miscarriages against actor Jamal Shah.

The actress said that she faced violence after marriage, and the severity of the violence was such that she suffered a miscarriage. She said it happened again, and on that occasion she was expecting twins, after which she made the final decision to separate.

Faryal Gohar said she was repeatedly beaten with a leather belt after marriage. She was kicked on her back and kidneys, which resulted in her undergoing kidney surgery.

She also said that strict restrictions were imposed on her after marriage. She was not even free to go outside for a walk and would travel wearing her mother-in-law’s burqa or in an enclosed rickshaw to conceal her identity.

Following Faryal Gohar’s shocking revelations, actor Jamal Shah issued a detailed statement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), denying the allegations.

Jamal Shah said that there was never any physical violence during their five-year marriage and that the two separated in a very dignified manner.

Responding to the allegation that he had caused her miscarriage, Jamal Shah said that in 1985, Faryal Gohar’s pregnancy was lost not because of violence but due to a dog-bite incident at Muneeza Hashmi’s house in Lahore.

Jamal Shah explained that from 1986 to 1988, he was studying at the Slade School of Fine Art in London and that during this period they had not made any plans to have children, so there was no question of another pregnancy.

The actor revealed that a television channel had recently approached him about producing a drama serial based on his and Faryal Gohar’s lives, but he refused to allow his past life to become the subject of media coverage.

He added that he is living a peaceful life with his current wife and three children and that he holds no bitterness towards Faryal. He said he still wishes her well.

Jamal Shah said that people can form whatever impression they want about Faryal Gohar’s recent allegations, but “you will not hear anything about her from my mouth.”
