Web desk: The “controversial” match referee Andy Pycroft is set to oversee the upcoming Asia Cup Super 4 clash between Pakistan and India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 21 September.
According to reports, ICC referee Andy Pycroft, who came under criticism during the earlier Pakistan–India encounter, has apologised to the Pakistan team’s captain and manager.
The controversy arose on 14 September, during the Group B match between the two rivals, when Pycroft stopped the captains from shaking hands at the end of play.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed its strong displeasure at the referee’s conduct.
Pycroft has described the incident as a “miscommunication” and has since offered an apology.
The ICC has also agreed to investigate the breach of the code of conduct that took place during the same match.
Sources added that both Pycroft and India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, went against MCC regulations.
