Web Desk: In an unexpected development the Asia Cup 2025 has over taken the Champions Trophy and the ICC Women’s World Cup in the Google Top Trending Global Searches 2025. This has surprised sports followers everywhere.
Most attraction is usually garnered by ICC tournaments and FIFA World Cups. Surprisingly this year Asia cup rose to the top. This was mainly due to the intense Pakistan-India rivalry and due to controversies.
It all started from the first Pakistan-India Match. The highly anticipated game was turned political. During the toss the Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav did not exchange greetings.
Things escalated even more after the match. India’s victory was sealed with a six. However, Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav walked straight into the dressing room without doing the customary handshake. The door was already closed when Pakistani players approached the Indian dressing room later.
After the post-match ceremony, the controversy even grew further. The Indian win was dedicated to the victims of Pahalgam attack by the captain Surya Kumar Yadav. This move was criticized by Pakistan’s camp for bringing politics into cricket.
This was just the beginning. In the next matches Haris Rauf angered Indian fans by making the 6-0 gesture. Sahibzada Farhan also drew criticism for a celebration where held his bat like a machine gun.
The most dramatic moment came on the final night. When India refusedto accept the trophy presented by Mohsin Naqvi. Mohsin Naqvi is the PCB Chairman and the ACC president. Despite Indian resistance Mohsin Naqvi stood firm and insisted on presenting the trophy himself.
Due to this the Indian players kept waiting for a ceremony that never happened. The trophy was removed by the organizers because Indian players refused to follow the proper guidelines.
At the end, these controversies made Asia cup more searched than actual ICC tournaments.
