Islamabad: Pakistan on Tuesday solemnly remembered the anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack on the Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar, paying tribute to the innocent children and teachers who were martyred in one of the darkest chapters of the nation’s history.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press release that the APS martyrs were recalled as symbols of courage, resilience, and national unity, whose sacrifice strengthened Pakistan’s collective resolve to confront and defeat terrorism in all its forms. The anniversary once again highlighted the urgent need to eliminate the menace of terrorism, which has inflicted deep human, economic, and social losses on the country.

The press release further added that Pakistan has been among the nation’s most severely affected by terrorism, having lost over 90,000 lives in the long struggle against extremism. These sacrifices highlight Pakistan’s frontline role in global counterterrorism efforts, which have not only protected its own citizens but also contributed to regional and international security.

The press release said that “Security forces and law-enforcement agencies continue to carry out decisive operations against terrorist networks, while Pakistan remains vigilant against threats emanating from across the border”. It is also said that authorities have repeatedly drawn attention to the presence of terrorist elements operating with external support and have taken firm measures to prevent cross-border terrorism.
