KP govt must follow federal policy on illegal Afghans: Mohsin Naqvi

Lahore: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stressing on the return of Afghan nationals from Pakistan has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government must follow the policy of the center on illegal Afghans.

Talking to reporters at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore on Monday, the interior minister said the government has sent back 1.1 million Afghan nationals by April 2025.

About 400,000 Afghans have been returned, from Torkham border alone, he said.

Naqvi stated that the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is different. He claimed that the illegal Afghans are being given protection in the province.

The camps in Peshawar and Nowshera have been notified. However, the camps in South and North are still operational.

He also gave confirmation that the three actors that attacked Frontier Corps on Sunday were also Afghan nationals.

Concerning illegal travel Naqvi emphasized that illegal travel abroad is not allowed. He mentioned the case of a person trying to go to Saudi Arabia without a driving license. According to him about 50-60 people are being offloaded and in time FIA will share all the data with media.

He emphasized on the need to fix Pakistan’s own internal issues. In the end he said that nothing comes before the country. The state can not afford more attacks especially when Pakistan’s economy is improving. He also stated that Afghan nationals should return to their country with respect. He also stated that anyone who has already been deported will be arrested if they try to enter Pakistan again.
