NADRA launches birth, death registration via Pak ID mobile app

WEBDESK: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new digital service allowing citizens to register births and deaths through its Pak-ID mobile application.

The facility, introduced in response to challenges faced after the recent floods, is currently available only in three districts of Punjab — Jhelum, Chakwal, and Nankana Sahib. Officials confirmed that work is under way to expand the service to other provinces in the near future.

According to NADRA, the latest update of the Pak-ID app (version 5.0.2) includes several new features:

  • Digital birth and death registration at all Union Councils in Punjab
  • Family composition details, including ID card status and expiry dates
  • Separate biometric verification categories for better identification
  • Real-time application tracking at every stage

The app’s interface has also been upgraded to provide a cleaner and more user-friendly experience.

NADRA has urged citizens to update or download the latest version of the app to make use of the new services.

As Pakistan’s central authority for identity management and registration, NADRA issues CNICs, Child Registration Certificates, and other key documents. It also maintains a secure database of biometric and demographic details, and plays a major role in voter registration, public service delivery, and national data security.

Over the years, NADRA has rolled out various digital solutions to make its services more accessible and efficient for the public nationwide.
