The venue for the Pakistan Women’s cricket team’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka has been partially revised.
According to reports, the three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will now be played in Dambulla instead of Hambantota.
The cricket board confirmed that there has been no change to the series dates.
The three T20Is are scheduled to be played on July 31, August 2, and August 4 in Dambulla, while the ODI series schedule remains unchanged.
Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana says she is optimistic about the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, with the team’s goal being to play positive, aggressive cricket and achieve the best possible results.
Meanwhile, speaking in a media interview, Fatima Sana said Pakistan will need to compete strongly against Sri Lanka and aims to deliver a better performance than it did in the previous series against South Africa and Zimbabwe.
She said the team has learned from mistakes made in earlier series and is determined not to repeat them. The captain added that the team management is working to build a stronger and more balanced ODI squad by combining experienced and young players.
Fatima Sana praised the performances of Gull Feroza, Sadaf Shamas, and Sidra Amin in the previous series, calling them encouraging signs for the team.
She said Pakistan’s objective is to develop more match-winning players, stressing that the more match-winners the team has, the stronger it will become. She reaffirmed the team’s commitment to playing positive, fearless, and aggressive cricket, especially with major contests against top international sides on the horizon.
The Pakistan captain added that adapting to the demands of modern international cricket is essential, and the team must quickly overcome its weaknesses and correct its mistakes.
Speaking about her participation in The Hundred, Fatima Sana said she is excited to feature in the tournament but is disappointed that it will prevent her from taking part in Pakistan’s upcoming T20I series. She expressed confidence that playing in The Hundred will help her gain valuable experience, which she hopes to share with her national teammates upon her return.
