According to the ICC statement, Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, while India will play its matches at a neutral venue.
The ICC also approved, on a trial basis, the use of the pink ball in Test matches, subject to the agreement of both teams, to maximize playing time in poor light conditions.
In T20 matches, the innings break has been extended to 15 minutes. The window for the Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 has also been revised and will now be held from February 14 to 28, 2027, instead of June-July.
According to the statement, 10 teams will participate in the ICC Emerging Nations Trophy 2026, including five Full Members and five Associate teams.
The ICC has also approved the introduction of a 16-team global qualifier for the Men’s T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, the membership of Cricket Canada has been suspended due to serious breaches. However, despite the suspension, Canada’s national team will continue to participate in ICC events.
A two-member ICC delegation will visit Bangladesh to review various matters, including the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s electoral process. The delegation has already visited Sri Lanka, where it reviewed ongoing developments with relevant stakeholders.
Expressing concern over the growing influence of franchise cricket, the Board has decided to establish a committee that will examine ways to maintain a balance between the international cricket calendar and franchise cricket within the existing structure.
