Resolution regarding TikTok ban in Pakistan submitted in Punjab Assembly

Web desk: A resolution was submitted in the Punjab Assembly urging the federal government to place a complete ban on TikTok across Pakistan.

Opposition legislator Farrukh Javed Moon brought the resolution forward.

It claimed that the app had become a platform where the “TikTok mafia” was spreading obscenity and nudity through live chats, and attracting the young generation.

According to it, this activity was influencing the youth, particularly children, and encouraging them towards behaviour that goes against Islamic and social values.

It also alleged that young boys and girls were engaging in obscene conversations and provoking one another towards immoral acts.

The resolution appealed to the federal government to take immediate steps to block TikTok and its live chat feature in order to protect the younger generation from what it described as “moral destruction.”

TikTok ban in Pakistan 2025: Swabi Police arrest man for indecent TikTok videos in female disguise

Earlier, police in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, arrested a man identified as Abdul Mugheez from Bamkhel village for uploading indecent TikTok videos while dressed as a woman.

Officers said the clips, in which he was seen “striking controversial poses,” caused anger among locals.

An FIR was registered against him under Section 294 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with obscene acts in public places.

Some TikTok users are accused of producing objectionable material. Authorities noted that some of these individuals had gained large online followings through such content.

TikTok itself has faced repeated bans in Pakistan over concerns about indecent content. The company announced in July that it had taken down more than 24 million videos from Pakistan for violating community standards.
