The post-mortem of Islamabad police SP Adeel Akbar, who, according to report, died by suicide, has been completed.

Sources confirmed on Thursday that the Medical Legal Officer at PIMS Hospital concluded the examination.

Sources revealed that after the post-mortem, officials handed Adeel Akbar’s body over to his family. The PIMS management will provide the preliminary post-mortem report to the police.

The report verified that an isolated gunshot injured Adeel Akbar, entering the front of his head and exiting through the back of his skull, resulting in fatal brain damage that led to his death.

Earlier on Thursday, Superintendent of Islamabad Police (SP) Adeel Akbar shot himself while on duty near Serena Hotel. Adeel Akbar, who served as the SP Industrial Area, shot himself after snatching a firearm from his guard. He was rushed to PIMS Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The officer was stationed at a security checkpoint when he took a pistol from his staff and fired at himself. He was earlier transferred to Poly Clinic hospital and later to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), but his life couldn’t be saved.

The Islamabad Police have refrained from issuing a statement in this regard. The motive remains unclear, with police launching an investigation.

Funeral Prayers

Funeral prayers for Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar were offered at the Police Lines in Islamabad. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, senior police officials, members of law enforcement agencies, and a large number of civilians attended the funeral.

Following the prayers, the officer’s body was sent to his native village with full official honors for burial.

Throughout his career, Akbar earned recognition for his leadership skills, operational expertise, and his deep understanding of policing in complex and challenging environments.
