Web desk: Security sources say Pakistan’s armed forces continue ground and air operations against the Afghan Taliban and what officials describe as Fitna al Khawarij under Operation Ghazb lil Haq. Authorities say forces will continue the operation until they achieve all objectives.
Security officials say Pakistani forces carried out an air strike in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province and destroyed the Khogyani base. Officials say they launched the strike after militants carried out what they described as unprovoked aggression from across the border.
In northern Balochistan Afghan Taliban fighters launched physical attacks on 16 locations in Qilla Saifullah Noshki and Chaman districts. Militants also carried out fire raids at 25 additional locations while engaging Pakistani troops. Security forces repelled the attacks and inflicted heavy losses. Officials say the clashes killed 27 Afghan Taliban fighters and injured several others.
During the fighting one soldier from FC Balochistan North embraced martyrdom while defending his position and five others sustained injuries.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa militants attempted a physical assault at one location and carried out fire raids at 12 other sites. Security forces repelled each attack without suffering any loss of life. Officials say overnight operations killed 40 Afghan Taliban fighters in the province. Forces continue follow up operations and conduct area clearance activities.
Security authorities say they will release a detailed update on Operation Ghazb lil Haq later as forces press ahead on multiple fronts.
Security forces also foiled an infiltration attempt by TTA militants along the Pakistan Afghanistan border. During the night between March 2 and 3 TTA militants tried to cross into Pakistan through the Thall sector. Pakistani troops responded immediately and opened fire with all available weapons on militant positions.
This morning soldiers of the Pakistan Army crossed the border in a follow up action. They seized the militant post that initiated the firing and hoisted the Pakistani flag over the position.
Forces then destroyed three nearby TTA posts with explosives and rendered them unusable. The operation killed five militants while the remaining attackers fled the area and left behind the bodies..
