Security forces killed 10 militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij during two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation was conducted on August 6 in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan, where militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij attempted to attack security forces’ check posts. Security forces responded promptly and effectively, foiling the attack. Eight militants were killed in the exchange of fire.
According to ISPR, the second operation was conducted in Lower Dir, where security forces killed two more militants. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the militants, who were involved in several terrorist activities in the area.
The statement said that a clearance operation is underway to eliminate any other militants potentially present in the area. Under the National Action Plan approved by the Federal Apex Committee and the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, security forces and law-enforcement agencies will continue their counterterrorism campaign with full force until the complete elimination of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Prime Minister and President commend security forces
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif strongly commended the security forces for killing 10 militants of Fitna al-Khawarij, described as being active with Indian backing, in South Waziristan and Lower Dir.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office media wing, the prime minister said the entire nation takes pride in the professionalism, courage and sacrifices of its brave security forces. He said the nefarious designs of elements spreading terrorism with Indian backing would be thwarted at all costs.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that operations against terrorists would continue with full determination under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam until terrorism is completely eliminated.
He reiterated that the government and the entire nation stand shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in the fight against terrorism and that all possible measures would continue to be taken to completely eradicate terrorism from the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari also paid tribute to the security forces for killing 10 militants of Fitna al-Khawarij, described as being active with Indian backing, in South Waziristan and Dir.
The president praised the professionalism of the security forces for foiling the attack by Fitna al-Khawarij militants in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan.
He said the nation stands with its brave security forces and law-enforcement agencies and values their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He added that the nefarious designs of terrorist elements operating with Indian backing would be thwarted at all costs.
