Web Desk: Pakistan have named a 15-member squad for the 2026 Asian Games, appointing experienced batter Sahibzada Farhan as captain, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old Farhan will lead the side in the men’s T20 International competition, while Abdul Samad has been named vice-captain. Farhan has played 46 T20 internationals for Pakistan, scoring 1,305 runs, including two centuries and 10 half-centuries, underlining his experience in the shortest format.

Meanwhile, selectors have included several uncapped or emerging players in the squad, with Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Muaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood set to be in line for their maiden T20 International appearances.

The men’s T20 cricket competition at the Asian Games will begin on September 24 in Aichi, Japan, while medal matches are scheduled for October 3.

In addition, 14 of the 15 selected players will participate in a National Cricket Academy (NCA) white-ball training camp starting June 15 in Lahore as part of the team’s preparations for the multi-sport event.

The 15-member squad includes Sahibzada Farhan (captain), Abdul Samad (vice-captain), Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Arafat Minhas, Haider Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Muaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Saad Masood, Saim Ayub, Sufyan Moqim and Usman Khan.

Officials said the squad combines experienced campaigners with young talent as Pakistan look to mount a strong challenge at the Asian Games.
