Web Desk: National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has found Punjab lawmaker Saqib Chadhar culpable during its investigation into a case involving allegations of harassment and threats against actress Momina Iqbal, according to proceedings before a Lahore sessions court.
The development emerged during a hearing on the interim bail petitions of Chadhar, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and his wife, Sameera, before Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Siddiqui.
During the hearing, the investigating officer informed the court that the inquiry against Chadhar had been completed and that he had been found culpable during the investigation.
Meanwhile, the officer said Sameera submitted her mobile phone to the NCCIA two days ago. Authorities have since sent the device for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Representing Momina Iqbal, lawyer Adnan Ahsan urged the court to revoke the interim bail granted to the suspects. He argued that allowing the accused to remain at liberty posed a security risk to his client.
In contrast, counsel for Chadhar, Rana Maroof, appeared on behalf of the lawmaker and his wife during the proceedings.
After hearing both sides, the court directed counsel to present final arguments at the next hearing. It also extended the interim bail of Chadhar and Sameera until Sept. 3.
The NCCIA registered the case following a complaint filed by actress Momina Iqbal, who accused Chadhar and his wife of harassment and issuing threats. The investigation remains ongoing, with forensic analysis of Sameera’s mobile phone still pending.
