Web Desk: The Election Commission in Gilgit-Baltistan has converted the office of the Chief Election Commissioner’s personal secretary into a dedicated monitoring center to help ensure free, fair and peaceful elections across the region, officials said on Sunday.

The move aims to strengthen oversight of the electoral process and enable authorities to respond swiftly to any emerging situation during polling and vote counting.

The control room will remain operational around the clock until June 8, functioning without interruption to monitor developments related to the elections.

Officials said the center will collect information from across the region and maintain real-time oversight of the ground situation. As a result, election authorities will be able to take immediate action in the event of any untoward incident or administrative challenge.

In addition to monitoring election-related activities, the control room will track administrative matters, security conditions and the progress of polling operations throughout the electoral process.

Furthermore, all relevant government departments and institutions have been formally notified and instructed to remain in constant coordination with the monitoring center. Authorities said the arrangement is designed to facilitate rapid cooperation in case of emergencies.

The Election Commission said the primary objective of the initiative is to provide voters with an environment in which they can exercise their democratic right without fear or intimidation.

The commission added that the enhanced monitoring mechanism is intended to support a transparent, orderly and impartial electoral process while reinforcing public confidence in the conduct of the elections.
