PCB launches nationwide school-level talent hunt program

Web desk: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has officially launched a nationwide school-level talent hunt program aimed at discovering young cricketers and providing them with professional training.

The inaugural ceremony was held on Tuesday at Crescent Model High School, Lahore.

On the opening day, seven matches were played between 31 schools in the city, with the first match contested between Crescent Model High School and Crescent Grammar School. Matches in other districts will begin on Friday, September 26.

On the occasion, Naqvi unveiled the tournament trophy and distributed PCB kit bags among players of both schools. He also met the young cricketers and encouraged them to pursue success in both academics and cricket.

The talent hunt program has been simultaneously launched across all provinces of the country and consists of two main formats: a 40-over tournament and a two-day weekend school league.

Teams were selected through detailed trials and evaluations, followed by the establishment of training camps at schools under the guidance of regional and district coaches.

PCB announced that winning schools will receive special prizes, while standout performers will be given opportunities to join U15, U17, and U19 regional teams and academies, paving the way for their professional careers.

The ceremony was attended by PCB Board of Governors member Anwar Ghani, Crescent School trustee Mian Saleem Altaf, Principal Rabia Najm, LCCA President Khawaja Nadeem, Secretary and DG Sports Punjab, along with several other dignitaries.
