(Web Desk) The President and the Prime Minister paid tribute to Pakistani workers in their messages on International Labour Day.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message, said that workers are not merely a part of the economy but its very foundation. He emphasized that Pakistani laborers are playing a vital role in the country’s development. He also highlighted that the workers of Chicago made historic sacrifices for their rights, laying the foundation for concepts such as fair wages, reasonable working hours, and dignified working conditions.
The President added that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees the elimination of exploitation and the protection of workers’ rights, and the country remains committed to promoting labor rights in line with international standards.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that the sacrifices of the working class keep life moving. He added that workers and skilled individuals, both within the country and abroad, represent Pakistan’s capability, hard work, and professional excellence. He urged everyone to renew their commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and others also paid tribute to workers and honored their sacrifices on this occasion.
