Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing the United Nations General Assembly, said that it was an honour for him to address the General Assembly once again and that he was addressing it for the fourth time.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated Khalil-ur-Rehman on being elected President of the General Assembly.

In his address, the prime minister said that Pakistan brought the United States and Iran to the table in Islamabad and played an important role in mediating between Iran and the United States.

Shehbaz Sharif said that the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb are the backbone of the region. He said that the efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir created space for diplomacy.

In his address, the prime minister also highlighted Pakistan’s role in mediating between the United States and Iran and its efforts to bring the two countries to the negotiating table in Islamabad.
