Pakistan sends 29th consignment of humanitarian aid to Gaza

⏱ 2 minute read

Web desk: Pakistan sent another batch of humanitarian aid to Gaza on Thursday to support Palestinians with essential relief following Israel’s military actions in the region.

The National Disaster Management Authority organized the consignment with assistance from the Al-Khidmat Foundation. This marks the second shipment from Islamabad within a week, following the 28th consignment that was sent earlier on Monday.

Pakistan initially dispatched aid, including medicines and tents, on October 19, 2023, shortly after Israel’s bombardment of Gaza began. The latest relief items were flown from Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore to Al-Arish Airport in Egypt before being transported to Gaza.

Israel controls access to the Gaza Strip and maintains that it is not withholding supplies from the area’s two million residents. Over the past two years, Israeli military operations in Gaza have resulted in over 71,000 Palestinian deaths, widespread displacement, and massive infrastructure damage.

The international community has strongly criticized Israel over the humanitarian impact in Gaza. Human rights organizations and experts have labeled the actions as genocide, though Israel continues to reject this characterization.

In my opinion Pakistan’s continued aid shipments reflect a strong commitment to humanitarian assistance and international solidarity. While logistical challenges and geopolitical tensions remain, such efforts provide critical relief to vulnerable populations in crisis situations and highlight the role of neutral humanitarian support in conflict zones.
