Web Desk: Pakistan’s navy on Thursday successfully carried out a test of a locally developed anti-ship ballistic missile, striking a distant maritime target with high accuracy, the ISPR said.
The launch marked a significant step in strengthening the country’s naval defence capabilities, as officials highlighted the system’s speed, range and precision during the trial.
According to the military’s media wing, the missile demonstrated its operational effectiveness by engaging a target at sea with pinpoint accuracy. All technical parameters set for the test were achieved, underscoring the system’s reliability and combat readiness.
Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf observed the exercise, accompanied by scientists and engineers associated with the project, who monitored the missile’s performance.
Meanwhile, the country’s top leadership, including the president and prime minister, congratulated the naval forces, scientists and engineers involved in the programme. They described the successful test as a boost to Pakistan’s defensive strength and a reflection of its commitment to safeguarding maritime borders.
Officials said the development reinforces the navy’s preparedness to respond to potential threats in the maritime domain.
The test comes against a backdrop of evolving geopolitical dynamics and rising tensions in parts of the region, which analysts say increase the importance of credible maritime deterrence.
Experts noted that the missile system, equipped with advanced technology, enhances Pakistan’s ability to counter hostile naval threats and maintain a balance of power in surrounding waters.
