US cabinet acknowledges Pakistan as mediator

The US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has said that a 15-point peace plan has been delivered to Iran through the Pakistani government.

Speaking during a cabinet meeting under President Donald Trump, Witkoff stated that Pakistan is playing a mediating role in negotiations with Iran.

He further said that this is a sensitive diplomatic matter, and its details are not being shared with the media.

However, he added that there are “good chances of an agreement”, and if a deal is reached, it will be beneficial for Iran, the region, and the entire world.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had said that talks between the United States and Iran are ongoing through Pakistan.

In a post on the social media platform X on Thursday, he said that unnecessary speculation is being made in the media, while in reality, indirect communication between the US and Iran is taking place through Pakistan’s messages.

He further explained that, in this context, the United States has shared 15 points, which Iran has reviewed, and friendly countries like Turkey and Egypt are also supporting this initiative.

Ishaq Dar also emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way forward, and Pakistan remains fully committed to promoting peace and ensuring stability in the region and beyond.
