A case of unnatural death has been registered following the death of veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar.
According to foreign media reports, police in the Indian state of Goa registered an unnatural death (UD) case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The 75-year-old actor reportedly died early yesterday morning at his residence in Goa after suffering a heart attack.
According to police records, the National Film Award-winning actor was taken from his residence to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Media reports said further investigations into the incident are underway under the supervision of Police Sub-Inspector Nitin Naik.
Why Was a Police Case Registered?
The registration of a police case following Nana Patekar’s death is a routine legal procedure, as the actor was reportedly alone at his residence and was brought to the hospital after his death.
In such cases, police register an unnatural death report to rule out any suspicious circumstances or the possibility of criminal activity.
The case was registered after the hospital informed the police about the incident.
It is worth noting that Nana Patekar’s last rites were performed with full state honours last night at his farmhouse in Pune.
