The Punjab School Education Department has revised the timings of government schools across the province, issuing a notification directing officials to ensure implementation of the new schedule.
According to the notification, the revised timings will remain in effect from October 16, 2026, to March 31, 2027. The new schedule sets separate timings for single-shift and double-shift schools. It also specifies different closing times for Fridays.
Under the new schedule, single-shift schools will open at 8:45am and close at 1:30pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, classes will end at 12:30pm.
The morning shift at double-shift schools will run from 8:45am to 1:15pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, the morning shift will end at 12:30pm.
The department has also revised the timings for the second shift at double-shift schools. The afternoon shift will run from 1:30pm to 4:30pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, it will begin at 2pm and end at 4:30pm.
The Punjab School Education Department has directed all chief executive officers (CEOs) of education across the province to ensure compliance with the revised timings. Officials must also inform the relevant schools about the new schedule.
The notification also allows some flexibility in the timings of girls’ schools. Relevant CEOs of education may adjust their timings by 15 minutes, if required.
The revised schedule will take effect on October 16 and remain in place until March 31, 2027.
