No More Long Queues: NADRA Brings ID Card Services to Your Doorstep

To reduce crowding at NADRA offices and transition identity services to a digital system, a facility has been introduced via the ‘Pak-ID’ mobile app, allowing citizens to process documents—such as new applications or modifications—from the comfort of their homes.

Once a citizen’s photograph and biometric data are already stored in NADRA’s records, they can use the mobile app to apply for identity card renewals, the re-issuance of lost cards, and various other services. This significantly decreases the need to visit registration centers for routine matters.

According to NADRA, the Pak-ID app can be used for services including the renewal, modification, and re-issuance of identity cards, as well as obtaining Child Registration Certificates (CRCs) and Family Registration Certificates (FRCs).

The app includes features for verifying fingerprints and capturing photographs directly via a smartphone; applicants can also track the status of their requests online. However, despite this facility, a visit to a NADRA office remains necessary in certain cases. For instance, while an application for a first-time identity card can be initiated through the account of a blood relative, both the applicant and the relevant relative must visit a NADRA center to complete the remaining procedures.

Similarly, for a child whose ‘Form-B’ was obtained via the Pak-ID app, a personal visit to a NADRA center will be mandatory when they reach the age of 18 to facilitate the issuance of their first identity card.

In the case of a Succession Certificate, the applicant (an heir) must personally submit the application along with the required documents at a designated NADRA center; however, other legal heirs can complete their biometric verification from the comfort of their homes using the Pak-ID mobile app. Thanks to NADRA’s digital facilities, citizens can avoid the need for repeated visits to offices for various stages of a process; nevertheless, the requirement for an in-person appearance remains in effect for initial registration and certain specific legal matters.
