Web Desk: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a new winter gas supply schedule, limiting gas availability for domestic consumers to eight hours daily.
Under the new schedule, gas will be available during three time slots: morning, afternoon and evening. The schedule will take effect from today.
According to the SSGC spokesperson, domestic consumers will receive gas from 6:30am to 9am, from 12pm to 2:30pm, and from 6pm to 9pm.
The company said it had prepared the schedule to improve gas availability during winter. It added that domestic consumers would receive priority during the season.
Meanwhile, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government would provide relief on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to deserving families using Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) data.
He said LPG should cost around Rs450 per kilogram at international market rates. However, some sellers had made excessive profits, he added.
The minister said the government was opening LPG imports to competition to improve supply and control prices. All companies would also have to display their LPG rates on their websites.
He added that the government would sell locally produced LPG through auctions.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government aimed to provide relief to deserving families and maintain gas supplies across the country during December and January.
