Motorway M-1 Closed Due to Dense Fog

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced the closure of Motorway M-1 from Swabi to Burhan due to heavy fog that has severely reduced visibility.

Officials said the motorway will remain shut until the weather improves. They advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel and wait for the fog to clear before starting their journey.

The NHMP explained that this preventive step aims to protect road users, as high-speed driving during low visibility often leads to serious accidents.

The NHMP stated that the closure is temporary but necessary because of dangerous weather conditions. Additional patrol teams have been deployed to monitor the situation and assist commuters who may need help. Authorities urged the public to cooperate with the Motorway Police.

The NHMP is coordinating with weather officials and will reopen the M-1 once visibility becomes safe. Motorists planning to use the route are advised to follow official NHMP communication channels for updates.

Officials added that safety remains the top priority during winter fog and stressed that the motorway will only reopen when conditions improve enough to ensure safe travel.
