Massive fire erupts after Faisalabad boiler blast

FAISALABAD: A powerful boiler blast at a chemical factory in Faisalabad’s Malik Pur area sparked a massive fire on Friday, claiming lives of 15 people with 10 injured.

Rescue officials said the blast was so intense that its sound was heard from a considerable distance.

Initial reports indicate that the factory did not have a boiler, and the accident occurred due to a gas leak. A fire erupted in one factory, which then spread to three adjacent factories, affecting seven nearby residential homes as well.

According to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nadeem Nasir, around 100 factories are established in the area while the effected factory was established 25 years ago.

The bodies of all 15 deceased have been recovered from the debris, while 10 injured individuals were transferred to Allied Hospital. Three of the injured were discharged after receiving preliminary medical treatment, and three others have been moved to the burn unit for specialized care. Punjab police also participated in the rescue operation.

Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar said, “We share equally in the grief of the bereaved.” Following his instructions, a five-member inquiry committee has been formed to determine the cause of the accident.

The commissioner confirmed that rescue operations have now been completed, and the clearance process is ongoing. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, providing full medical support to the injured.

Residents and officials alike have expressed a collective sigh of relief as the rescue efforts conclude and immediate threats are brought under control.

CM Maryam Nawaz expresses sorrow:

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the boiler explosion at a chemical factory in Faisalabad. She extended her heartfelt condolences to the grieving families.

Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the Faisalabad Commissioner to submit a detailed report on the tragedy.
