Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz lashing out Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik has asked him to prove corruption allegations against the Punjab government or be prepared to be dragged in courts.
During a visit to Attock, Maryam Nawaz asked Ch Salik to prove the charges he has levelled against her government warning him that he will be served a defamation notice.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain had expressed concern over alleged corruption in Punjab, saying he frequently hears reports of irregularities, some of which he believes are true.
Speaking to ARY News, Salik had said corruption files had piled up to the extent that they now filled entire cupboards. He added that these cases were also being documented.
He also questioned the use of government aircraft for personal purposes and called for transparency over their official use. Salik further asked how much investment Pakistan had attracted through official foreign visits.
Maryam Nawaz expressing her anger said that if the Punjab government is so bad and corrupt, than why you have become a minister and part of this cabinet.
She said that making baseless remarks does not befit a federal minister holding such a responsible position.
She made it clear that she would not tolerate false allegations against the government and would take those making baseless claims to court.
Maryam Nawaz further said Chaudhry Salik was upset because her government had transferred the deputy commissioner of Gujrat.
Referring to her visit to Gujrat, she said so much water had accumulated on the roads that even her Land Cruiser was submerged.
She stressed that anyone appointed to a position through political recommendations damages the country and harms the public.
