Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed’s Wife Secures Khula Decree

The marital relationship between former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad and his wife Humaira Tayyaba has ended.

The Islamabad Family Court has issued a decree of Khula in favour of Humaira Tayyaba, ordering the dissolution of the marriage.

The court observed that the woman is not willing to continue the marital life with her husband and all reconciliation efforts have failed.

Family Court Judge Ambreen Iqbal Chaudhry announced the decision in the case on October 28, 2026.

According to the court’s decree sheet, Humaira Tayyaba had filed the suit on May 21, 2026, seeking dissolution of marriage on the basis of Khula, along with maintenance for minor children, educational expenses for unmarried daughters and other related reliefs.

According to the court order, a reconciliation report was presented in the court during the hearing, which stated that pre-trial reconciliation efforts between the parties had failed.

Subsequently, Humaira Tayyaba recorded an affidavit in court stating that she was not ready for reconciliation and could not live a married life with her husband within the limits prescribed by Allah Almighty. She expressed extreme dislike for her husband and refused to live with him.

In light of the woman’s statement and the reconciliation report, the court declared that the reconciliation proceedings had failed, after which a decree for dissolution of marriage on the basis of Khula was issued under Section 10(4) of the West Pakistan Family Courts Act, 1964. According to the verdict, the marriage between the two parties stands dissolved on the basis of Khula.

Regarding Haq Mehr, the court order states that both parties have denied any claims against each other as per the terms of Khula. On this basis, the court ordered the preparation of the decree sheet.

The remaining part of the claim pertaining to children’s maintenance, educational expenses of unmarried daughters and other related requests was also dismissed as withdrawn in light of the statement recorded by the petitioner on October 7, 2026.

The court ordered that a certified copy of the Khula decree be sent to Mushtaq Ahmad’s residential address and to the concerned Union Council so that further legal proceedings on the court order could be completed.

The court also directed that after necessary proceedings and completion of the record, the case file be deposited in the record room.
