Glenn Maxwell Announces Retirement from International Cricket

Australian aggressive batter and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from international cricket.

According to a cricket website, Glenn Maxwell represented Australia in 7 Test matches, 149 ODIs, and 130 T20 matches.

Maxwell last represented Australia against Oman during the 2026 T20 World Cup.

He was a member of the Australian squads that won the 2022 T20 World Cup, as well as the 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cups.

One of his most memorable performances came against Afghanistan during the 2023 ODI World Cup in Mumbai. Australia were struggling at 91/7 while chasing 292, with their hopes of reaching the target appearing almost over. Maxwell, however, produced an extraordinary innings under difficult physical conditions.

Battling severe cramps and struggling to move freely, he scored an unbeaten 201 from just 128 deliveries. His innings included 21 fours and 10 sixes, while he shared an unbroken 202-run partnership with Pat Cummins, who contributed 12 runs. Maxwell’s effort took Australia to a remarkable three-wicket victory and secured their place in the semi-finals.
